After 10 years of contacts and 17 years of glasses, I CAN SEE! This week I received my long-awaited graduation gift, Lasik eye surgery. While having my eyelid held open and a laser dart about my cornea was not pleasant it was more than worth it!
On top of the amazing experience of being able to see as soon as I wake up with no help from any lenses, having to wear my glasses the two weeks prior to the surgery was quite a trip. One of the last few nights a bartender in Berkeley asked me if my glasses were “for real or for looks.” I quickly proved my blindness and answered that question.
As wonderful as it is to see unlike I have never seen before it is the end of an era. Goodbye glasses, it’s been swell.
